Plot: Slender, barely 5’2″, assisting a dance troupe, Veera Kaur’s dream is to represent the 9-time losing Indian Tigers cricket team. The team, led by Choudhary Vikramjeet Singh, have never won the Aman Cup against their rivals, Pakistan Champs, led by Pathan Liqayat Ali Khan. She dons the guise of a turbaned Sikh, complete with beard and mustache, and calls herself Veer Pratap Singh. In this way she manage to convince the new, rather arrogant and brash Team Captain, Rohan Singh, a British County Cricket all-rounder, and the son of Vikramjeet, to include her in this team. Things all appear to be going well until accusations are leveled against her for attempting to sexually molest Rohan’s leggy girlfriend – none other than Miss Chandigarh 2008, Soniya Saluja – which may well blow her cover, and prevent her from ever playing for any Indian Cricket team.

Storyline: Sakshi Shroff, the lonely and neglected wife of busy banking executive, Aditya, decides to give him a surprise on his birthday on July 22nd, but ends surprising him not once but multiple times. While Aditya is thrilled to know that both are going to be parents, and did appear surprised by the celebration, bitterness creeps in when he notices that Sakshi had also invited some ghosts (Rob Nancy and Kedar Zaveri) from his past. This gives rise to unpleasant memories involving a failed music group ‘Magik’ that he had associated with about a decade ago. Sakshi will soon find out why Aditya is displeased with her; why the music group broke up, ending in violence and acrimony especially between her husband and his former friend, Joseph Mascarenhas; why they cannot perform together ever again; as well as contemplate moving out and living with her mom.

As the city is riddled with crime and corruption, he decides to bring law and order back for which he has to go against Nagori Subramaniyam, the local mafia. He does not believe in the system of going by the book and instead fights fire with fire.

The movie was rumoured to be called Thanedaar part 2, referring to a previous Hit movie Sanjay Dutt did during his younger days. However Dutt did not feel comfortable with the movie backing on the success of Thanedaar, considering the fact that the story was not written keeping in mind the original Thanedaar. Furthermore the directors and producers of the original Thanedaar were different. Subsequently Sanjay Dutt suggested to brainstorm for another name. He suggested Policegiri and the unit was happy to call this movie Policegiri. Policegiri was actually not a word in use but something Sanjay Dutt created.
